Museum yay.

PAFA

Went to Pafa last week for a class trip before the break, what's happening there now is a compilation of artist's self portraits. Some seem extremely personal and seem like they require a thought bubble next to it for what the artist was thinking. In drawing, our teacher always asks us what we were thinking about when we create our self portraits which is a big determining factor for how we show ourselves.

Photos

I'm working on this project with different abstractions of photos that I have taken- here's a couple:

Landscape finished

Landscape

I had a lot of fun making this composite landscape, its actually a mix of all of my photography. I wanted to go with a city scene that was viewed from a farther out place. It's all imaginary but I had a good time creating it with an oriental theme.

CHRIS OFILI

The article we were asked to read talks about an artist that paints a portrait every day. Althought I think the idea is very inventive and innovative I couldn't do it. I can barely do anything everyday let alone paint a specific image of something.

Landscapee

Here's what I've got going so far for this landscape piece- its fun collaborating images together to make a whole.

Some transformations

RAWBERRY

This assignment of transformations was interesting, I couldn't figure out what to do for subject matter but I think they turned out okay

Touching

Retouching
Getting to know how to re-touch images is very valuable, a lot of people don't know how to do it and when you know that skill you can pass it on into other work that you want to do and even sometimes get paid. For my friends graduation party last year, his parents paid me to scan and re touch old pictures for them and then make a collage for the party. It turned out to be a huge success and taught me a lot. Now using CS5 it makes it that much easier!

Photoshop Self

Me.
This project was a lot of fun because although adobe was good to learn the process, I learned a lot to carry over into photoshop. I had already had some experience in photoshop editing photography and short collaborations of 2D projects but never really painting. It was difficult to get the colors exactly right because I was using an older version of Photoshop and now there are so many fancy things that PSCS5 can do its incredible. I can't wait till the next project!

Lecture

Benjamin Volta
I really enjoyed this guest speaker because he did things that I can see myself doing in the future. Working with people to come up with greater ideas through brainstorming and learning off of each other which is very interesting. A lot of the designs were made and collabed together which was so interesting to get a finished result off of many different ideas. Overall I thought his work was very cool and interesting. A lot of his work is very design oriented which I can see myself going into, so he sparked my interest.

A Waking Life

Although this type of movie always makes me nauseous- and I'm not sure if it's based on motion sickness or what not which is so odd- this movie really shows a lot of the technical skill that comes into painting and line work. I love the textures that are created when lines are intersecting and moving and blending, it reminds me of a futuristic motion painting.  Overall the movie was a lot of fun and I plan on renting the DVD soon so I can look at how the artists went about the creation of it all which was so fluidly beautiful.

Lecture

Missed the lecture last week because I was feeling sick- didn't do anything artsy related this weekend except worked on a lot of homework.

Me- againn- Photoshop style =)

I had a lot of fun doing this project, even though I decided to change my artist halfway through I believe it was for the best. Here's the near finished-nearlyy =)
It was hard trying to get the colors of my skin, and since I worked with Photoshop CS3 it made it that much harder to not have the fancy new blender brush CS5 has- oh well.

Changing My artist

HUNGERARTIST
I've Decided to change my artist because I want to go for a more painterly effect instead of a photoshoped illusioned effect. Anyhoo, I found him on Deviantart and I've always loved this style of work- His name is Carlos, or HungerArtist and I love the things he's able to create digitally and if I could just get on his level I would be more than happy. Here he is:

He's able to create such airy pieces of work using the soft color palette and I love it. I'm excited to see if I can actually go about this in a I-don't-want-to-kill-myself manner.

This is the picture I'm going to go off of-

Yea it's a couple years old but, I don't mind because it has the fall aspect that I like and the nature feel that Hunger Artist's work possesses--- guess well see what happens.

Me finishedd

Hey, it's me creepinnn.
So I had a good time with this project, I really liked how we made it first and then based it off of what we made. It was easier to get a grasp of what we were trying to do and ultimately I had a good time producing it.
=)

The Met.

Went to the Metropolitan Museum of art this weekend, it was fun but very cold out. We concentrated on Minoan art but I loved looking at the Egyptian work- One time I went to this psychic and she told me that in a past life I was Egyptian, and I believe it. I've always been fond of things relating to Egyptian culture so overall the museum was interesting and pleasant as usual. =)

This room interested me the most because of the nile-like moat surrounding the monuments and then the large windows taking up the left side that just light flood in through the whole room, just beautiful. I would love for one side of my house to have all those windows.

RANKIN.

Rankin

John Rankin Waddell

I really would like to go into graphic design after I learn more through Tyler’s program and with graphic design comes a lot of photography. Rankin is a photographer and photo manipulator that I love. He was born in 1966 and he’s a British fashion photographer.  He originally was studying to be an accountant but he dropped out and decided to work on photography which is something that I admire because it’s a big change and you never know what would have happened but it is something that he is passionate about. Rankin has photographed so many popular artists like Britney Spears and even royalty like the Queen. Everything that he does seems so interesting and I love his side work that he does for special projects because it shows that he is truly an artist.

Patterns

It was fun creating these patterns and then the shapes that I used the patterns in. Good tool that I could use for future projects.

Communism!

I decided to check out the gallery this week and it was very unique, I enjoyed the textual information that I could look at and the room with all the posters was my favorite just kind of letting the words consume you even if you couldn't tell what they were.

Look its me-basically

I really had a lot of fun with this project and it only took me an hour to complete. I had the time while my mom was helping me do my hair and I had to keep explaining to her that it wasn't a monkey that I was trying to convey it was actually myself- She just shook her head and said- Same Thing. Moms.

Lecture

Marianne Dages

 Uarts Alum
I enjoyed this week's lecture because she works in a lot of different ways but specializes in print making and book making which is something that I could see myself doing. She also said that she was into photography which is also what I could see myself going into so overall her ideas about the studio and everything were very insightful.

Revisitations

I even made my logo again because the other one was based more on myself and not my memoir

I had to make the text fit the picture more

Logos

I  liked the martini glass the most- but the only problem I had was figuring out how to round the base-- hmm?

This is my symbol- My logo- I'm very in tune with nature and my outside point of view in life- It's also curvy because I go with the flow and spread out towards where ever I may be  needed.

Mi familia de computadora

UPenn

I went to Upenn this week for a museum trip and I was able to look at many different archaeological found items during the early Minoan time period. I also checked out other Egyptian things because I am fascinated with Egyptian art and culture.

Turtle.

With this memoir I decided to frame my figure by doing the vertical type tool. After that I just created a new text block and altered the type size.
